18 February 2016

NWO is pleased to announce that a Call for Proposals "Chemistry of Advanced Materials" for a science industry cooperation programme with the Science & Technology Commission of the Chinese province Guangdong (GDST) was published on the NWO website on 1 February, and that the programme is now open for submissions. The deadline is 28 June. The Chinese version can be found on the website of GDST.

In the projects to be submitted, Dutch and Chinese researchers collaborate with one or more companies doing innovative research in the Netherlands, and one or more companies doing innovative research in China. A prerequisite for this call is that at least one of the Chinese partners (either a university or a company) is based in Guangdong Province. On the Dutch side, the project budget is k€ 530, of which k€ 250 has to be contributed in cash by one or more companies. On the Chinese side, the project budget is comparable. A total of six projects can be granted.

In order to facilitate the matchmaking between Dutch and Chinese parties, NWO and GDST will organise in cooperation with the Dutch Consulate-General a matchmaking workshop on 7 April in Guangzhou. If you are interested in participating, please submit a registration form to NWO before or on 1 March. For a maximum of 20 Dutch senior researchers NWO can provide financial support to a maximum of € 2.000 to cover travel, hotel and other expenses related to participation in the workshop. If you are interested in receiving this financial support, you can indicate this in the registration form. For terms and conditions, see the invitation for the matchmaking workshop, which you can also find on the NWO website.

On the NWO website you can also find a "Quickscan Advanced Materials China", provided by the Dutch Consulate General, which may help you to get an overview of what is going on in China in this field.

It is also good to know that DIRM (Laboratory for Device Integrated Responsive Materials), the joint research institute of TU Eindhoven and South China Normal University, will hold a scientific workshop on 8 and 9 April, also in Guangzhou.
