Departing and incoming supervisory board members discuss the added value of DPI

All good things must come an end… Krijn Dijkstra is leaving Envalior, and thus DPI’s Supervisory Board. At the same time, new doors open, and Dr. Christopher Stillings, Vice President Research & Development at Envalior, will step in as our new supervisory board member.

To mark the occasion, our Managing Director, Eric Hogenboom, sat down with them during the DPI Spring Meeting to discuss the added value of DPI for Envalior. Looking back on his time with DPI, Krijn highlights one change in particular: DPI’s shift from an internally focused organisation, oriented around product lines and internal metrics, towards an outside-in perspective, organised around the major themes playing out in society, such as materials for the energy transition and sustainable materials. “You have a much better connection with companies and with the outside world,” he explains. This external view, he says, has created a much stronger link between the topics addressed in DPI and Envalior’s own business strategy: “These are not just themes for DPI. These are themes for society that we all deal with.”

Incoming supervisory board member Christopher sees plenty to build on. The talent within the organisation and DPI’s engagement in relevant scientific topics, he notes, offer “a window to the opportunities” in polymer science. These are valuable precisely because the research is peer-reviewed together with colleague companies within the DPI community. The fundamental research carried out within DPI, he emphasises, provides the foundation that Envalior can internalise in order to innovate

Krijn Dijkstra, departing member of the Supervisory Board

Incoming supervisory board member Christopher sees plenty to build on. The talent within the organisation and DPI’s engagement in relevant scientific topics, he notes, offer “a window to the opportunities” in polymer science. These are valuable precisely because the research is peer-reviewed together with colleague companies within the DPI community. The fundamental research carried out within DPI, he emphasises, provides the foundation that Envalior can internalise in order to innovate.

Looking ahead, Christopher is keen to bring continuity to Envalior’s already high level of engagement, and even sees opportunities to further expand the DPI community and strengthen knowledge dissipation among its members.

We thank Krijn warmly for his contribution over the past years, and we look forward to continuing our close and valued collaboration with Envalior under Christopher’s involvement in the supervisory board.
